WITH STRANGERS
Returning
from their first ever appearance at this year’s
SXSW Festival, Sex With Strangers is proud to be a part
of the new Vancouver music scene. Apart from being one
of the city's most entertaining groups, Sex With Strangers
is easily amongst its most prolific as well, having
released three albums in less than three years.
October
20th, 2009 saw the release of The Tokyo Steel (BE09005)
their third album featuring the single and premier video
New City Anthem. The new album sees SWS updating themselves
to a bolder more dance rock sound. Picking up where
The Modern Seduction left off, The Tokyo Steel is a
sequel, continuum of the concepts presented in the original
story. Future Tokyo is now the backdrop to this romance
of liberty and love. The songs "New City Anthem"
and "I Will Be the Last One are also featured on
the Boutique Empire compilation Boutique Empire:Rec’10
(BE10006).
Their
debut EP, "A Future Tragedy" (independent)
was released April 2007 and includes the underground
sensation Dance Police, the song that began SWS's adventure
with Robot Rock. "The Modern Seduction" (BE08001)
expanded upon that EP's concept of a dystopian future
where free thinkers and liberty seeking people (The
Formers) are forced to take their 'live-forever lifestyle'
underground, away from the totalitarian regime (The
Persuader) that rules the surface world. A truly vast
soundscape, this concept record has been compared to
an electro-amalgamation of "The Wall" and
"Rage in Eden." The Modern Seduction was released
digitally worldwide in July 18th 2008."
As
of Spring 2010 Sex With Strangers are booking a summer
festival circuit tour and preparing material for their
as yet unnamed fourth album.
